Let’s uncork Pantone’s New Color of the Year!

Marsala is Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year!   What a warm and earthy change from the recent previous years’ color selections!  Marsala, with its red-brown tones, embodies sophistication and style.   It is both dramatic and yet down to earth and will appeal to both men and women.  Marsala pairs beautifully with neutrals like grays, blacks and golds.  It is a complex color that can be grounding and practical when paired with gray or blue but luxurious when paired with gold.  To create a more modern look, try pairing it with mint green or a hot...

Small Bath is Big on Style!

I’m really happy with the final result of this small bathroom update.  Small baths are tough – how do you maximize minimal space?  Well, with this bath we chose a neutral color palette, elongated tile designs and glass to make the space feel bigger.  We selected 6” X 24” gray ceramic floor tile and laid it vertical to the tub to create an illusion of a longer room.  We then added a 12” wide band of decorative tile in the center of the tube surround to draw the eye upward.  Finally, we added an updated vanity with quartz counter, updated...

A Screen Porch – Summer Fun in any Weather

My husband and I had plans to go to the shore last weekend, but the weather sounded, well let’s just say “wet”.  So we decided to hang out at home and rediscover what a blessing a screen porch can be!  A little rain didn’t bother us, comfy and cozy in our porch we enjoyed the outdoors without a care.  With weatherproof window panels and rug, along with sun resistant fabrics our porch is ready to use 3 seasons a year.   So bring it on Mother Nature, we have it covered!

Decorating with Burlap

https://www.flickr.com/photos/esecosky/10727873214/ Decorating with BurlapNovember 7, 2013 The holidays are fast approaching and it got me thinking about what is trending this year.  Those of us who have been around a while know what’s old becomes new at some point and right now – burlap is all the rage!  It is a great, inexpensive & multifunctional fabric. Most people think of burlap as a fall fabric, but you can use it all year long.  Lately, I’ve seen it used in weddings, upholstery, picture matting, table setting, lamp shades,...

How to Stage a Dining Table

If you are selling your home and looking for some staging tips, here is one on staging a dining table.  Because you are not setting the table for a meal, you can have some fun creating an appealing look whether your style is minimalist or traditional.   If simplicity is the look you are seeking, try a minimalist approach.  A simple centerpiece – think large glass vase with blooming dogwood branches or a row of small simple vases with one flower in each are great examples.  This style works well with a home that has a modern vibe.   Try...
