Boo!! The Holiday season begins with Halloween and what a fun time of year, especially for the kids – with hay rides, pumpkin picking and trying to decide what costume to wear for trick or treat.
Decorating for Halloween is starting to rival Christmas these days, especially in neighborhoods with lots of children. Here are some easy tips for decorating your home for Halloween and keeping those decorations up right through Thanksgiving.
All you need are lots of pumpkins, gourds, mums and a few really cool Halloween decorations like, skulls, spiders and candles. It is amazing to me how many different pumpkin varieties there are today – when I was growing up we had the basic orange pumpkin. Now, the varieties are endless (gray, lacey, white & red) and mixing them with gourds and mums really looks great – the colors just pop this time of year! I like to put them in unique spots in the yard – round the lamppost or next to a large rock or in unique places – like a flower box or wooden box. Add the skulls and spiders to your display and you’ve got it covered. And after Halloween, just remove your Halloween decorations and your displays will carry you right into the Thanksgiving season!
